October 2001

Wayne Jackson is the editor of The Christian Courier, an excellent publication dedicated to the cause of Christ. He is an evangelist with the East Main Street church of Christ in Stockton, California. His articles and commentaries are always worthwhile and truthful. I have included links this month to articles of his relating to the events of September 11, 2001. Please pray for all those affected by this horrific attack. While this is a time of much grief and trial, as Christians, we need to be ever mindful that vengeance is God's province alone. If we are obedient to Him, all of our worries and cares of this world are but a momentary affliction. Spread the word!

Mohammed and His Religion
One of the finest small books on church history is: The Story of the Christian Church, by Jesse Lyman Hurlbut. It was first published in 1918 and later revised. The chapter: “The Rise of Mohammedan Power, ” represents a succinct discussion of the religion of Islam. With some minor revision for smoothness and accuracy, this chapter is reproduced in this article. Due to the events of September 11th and since the Islamic system is growing so rapidly in America, Christians need to familiarize themselves with the history and basic teachings of this religion.
