December 2001

The Christmas season often has many people confessing their belief in Jesus Christ and calling themselves Christians. You will hear many say that "Jesus is the reason for the season". While Jesus was indeed a gracious and blessed gift from God, He sent His only begotten son as a sacrifice for our sins in order to culminate His plan for the salvation of mankind. The truth is that there is nothing in the Bible regarding the celebration of the birth of Jesus. In order to be a Christian in God's eyes, you must be obediant to His instructions on how to do that. The final act of obediance to become a Christian is baptism. Answer God's invitation and truly thank Him for the gift of His son.

The Necessity of Baptism
Bobby Thomas, Youth Minister of the Arab Church of Christ in Arab, Alabama, has written an excellent article on the necessity of baptism for salvation.
