PCYC was started in 2006 by a group of Christians from and around Arab, Alabama, led by Bobby Thomas, former member of the Purcellville church. Brother Thomas organized and led members of the churches of Christ to bring a Bible camp to the Purcellville church children and their friends. The camp has been held every year since then, except in 2009, when the church in Purcellville was in the process of moving into its permanent meeting place on Yaxley Drive.
In 2007 and 2008, two adult members of the Purcellville church began participating in the camp, and in 2008, Robbie Shiflett of Purcellville was named co-director of the camp.
In 2010, fourteen adult members of the Purcellville church coordinated, organized, and helped run the camp for the first time, with assistance from the Alabama brethren. Joel Tinnel, Robbie Shiflett, and Bobby Thomas worked as co-directors. Also for the first time, the camp was opened up and advertised to the local community in a significant way. Fourteen community children ranging in age from 5 to 16 attended the camp.
