Mission

The Purcellville Christian Youth Camp is a work of the church of Christ, located in Purcellville, Virginia. PCYC is a Bible camp, dedicated to the training of young people spiritually, mentally, socially, and physically in a Christian environment in order that they might render greater service to God, church, home and country. The camp director and his staff are all Christians committed to offering every child the broadest possible program instilling spiritual, physical and emotional growth befitting faithful servants of God.

PCYC is supported by the church of Christ in Arab, AL and members of congregations surrounding Arab.

Staff

PCYC staff include 2-3 co-directors, Bible class teachers, a lunch/snack coordinator and staff, a craft coordinator and assistants, a camp administrator/registrar, and numerous adult mentors ranging from college age to senior citizens. All staff are Christians who voluntarily use their time to work with the youth. Many of our staff have full time secular jobs and take their vacation to volunteer at the camp.

Who May Attend

PCYC is an inclusive camp. Any boy or girl without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, or sex, who will be in grades 1 through 12 in the fall and who is willing to abide by the camp rules may attend PCYC. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, as they are received by the camp registrar.

Children ages 4 and 5 may attend the morning session from 9am to 12pm. Please note: the camp is not equipped to provide nap times, often needed by pre-school and kindergarten children.

Camp Format

Because PCYC is for children spanning pre-school through high school, the camp is structured to appeal to a wide range of ages. We have selected the best features of Christian camps and Vacation Bible Schools and combined them into one event. Campers participate in daily chapel, Bible classes, and in periods of organized recreation and free time. Recreational activities include large and small group games and crafts.

Each teenager is encouraged to buddy with a younger child. This serves to help provide emotional and physical security for the younger children and helps the teenagers learn to serve and give to others.
